[edit] Why mirrors?
A lot of good stuff has already been written about poker at, for example, Wikipedia. Pokia wants to gather all poker content at one single place, but we don't feel that there is a reason to rewrite all the good stuff that has already been written. The content at Wikipedia and Wiktionary is available under the GNU Free Documentation License so we provide our users with a simple way of displaying that content, while clearly stating that it is a mirror and linking back to Wikipedia.
[edit] Is this really OK?
Don't worry, this is perfectly OK. Please see Wikipedia:Verbatim_copying, Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Mirrors and forks for details on reproducing Wikipedia articles.
[edit] How do I set up a mirror?
Setting up a mirror is simple. First you should learn how to start a new page. Now, the only thing you need to write to mirror an article is:
<mirror site="wikipedia" /> or <mirror site="wiktionary" />
This will show the original page from Wikipedia/Wiktionary together with a notice that this is a mirror.
[edit] Changing the article name
You can not mirror a page using a different name. For example, you can't make the article Doyle Brunson at Pokia show the Wikipedia article for Todd Brunson. There are two exceptions to this.
- You can make the Pokia article "Ante" mirror the Wiktionary page "ante", i.e. a page that is only different in case. Write this in the Pokia article:
<mirror site="wiktionary" entry="ante" />
- You can make the Pokia article "Betting" mirror the Wikipedia page "Betting (poker)". Write this is in the Pokia article "Betting". Notice that the entry attribute use the URL-style article name (with underscores instead of spaces). Check the URL of the page you want to mirror.
<mirror site="wikipedia" entry="Betting_(poker)" />
